The Government of India, Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (formerly known as SSI) in its endeavour to provide the right stimulus for the growth of the industry in the country particularly with the objective of supporting the micro, small and medium enterprises, has established MSME Tool Room (Central Tool Room & Training Centre), Kolkata. This Tool Room provides invaluable service to the industry by way of precision tooling and providing well trained craftsman in the area of the tool and die making. Setting of this Tool Room with Training Centre led to the dawn of a new era in the field of tooling and co-related activities in India which is highly proficient in mould and die making technology and promote precision and quality in the development and manufacture of sophisticated moulds, dies and tools. This Tool Room is equipped with the best technology and is abreast with the latest advancements in the field and periodically add new technology like CAD/CAM, CNC machining, Vacuum Heat Treatment and Rapid Prototyping.

MSME Tool Room, Kolkata offers various training programmes to meet the wide spectrum of technical manpower required in the manufacturing sector. The training programmes are designed with optimum blend of theory and practice giving the trainees exposure on the actual jobs and hands on working experience.

MSME Tool Room, Kolkata is concentrating on an Integrated Development of the related segments of industries by way of providing international quality tools, training personnel and consultancy in tooling and related areas and are constantly crossing new frontiers in its quest for excellence and beyond. 20% discount to SSI units for design and manufacturing of tools, dies, etc., are being allowed. Project Management services for establishment of tool room, industries, etc., in the field of Tool Engineering are also being provided.

ORGANISATIONAL SET UP

In order to provide greater autonomy, the Centre has been established as Govt. of India Society. The Management of affairs of the Centre rests with the Governing Council constituted by Govt. of India. Development Commissioner (MSME),Govt. of India is the President of the Society and Chairman of its Governing Council.
